Cosi fan tutte
Ferrando was one of Tucker's two Mozart roles (the other was Tamino in The Magic Flute) and the new staging of Cosi fan tutte at the Met in 1951 proved a huge success. The opera was staged by actor Alfred Lunt (pictured with Tucker at left) and Tucker's colleagues included Eleanor Steber (below,) Blanche Thebom, Frank Guererra and Patrice Munsel under the baton of Fritz Stiedry and was sung in English. A wonderful studio recording of the production for Columbia clearly shows Tucker's superb Mozart style and clear diction.
